I recently went to a Church Charity Auction and when this came up I immediately bid on it. After I was able to purchase it, I tried to find the person who donated it to find out more about it, but no one knew anything. I knew it was bark cloth, but did not find out until I started researching on the net that it was TAPA Bark Cloth from the Polynesian Islands. The fabric measures 38″ X 54 1/2″ and does not have any tears; it is in vintage condition that appears to have been folded and stored for many years. It has an unusual pattern with some numbers stamped into the pattern. It has medium brown markings on a dark and light tan background. I try to describe all items as accurately as possible, but please email me with any questions you might have.
